Reflective Clothing Flashes Back at Cameras

Everyone has a camera. Everyone wants to take your picture. Sometimes you don’t want you’re photograph taken, especially if you’re famous, but you don’t have to be famous. You might be having a bad hair day.

This new line of clothing might be for you.

Tech-Ed Out Clothing Is Fashion Forward: Photo

It’s called Flashback and it comes from San Francisco-based Betabrand, an online clothing site that crowdfunds its lines.

The clothing line has a suit jacket, pants, hoodie, cap and scarf made from material covered in microscopic glass beads that reflect light. It’s the same kind of material used to make reflective safety coats and vests for rescue personnel or road construction workers.

When a camera snaps a photograph using a flash, the clothing reflects the light, creates an overexposed image and generally put one’s face in the dark.

It’s not a foul-proof method for out-smarting cameras. Obviously, cameras can take images without a flash.

Maybe you just like the way these clothes look. I’ll bet they’re pretty flashing on the dance floor.

Interested parties — perhaps celebrities trying to foil the paparazzi — can pre-order items now. You have 28 days left.
